Youth Basketball League Rules (K-1st grade divisions)

Game Structure:

Kindergarten- 1st grade  will play on 8ft rims and use 28.5 basketballs (official women’s size).

Each team will get 30 minutes to warm up before the game starts.

Games will consist of two 12 minute halves (running clock). Clock will stop when subs occur.

1 minute halftime.

One 30 second timeout total per half.

Home team will start with the ball in the first half. If no jump balls, then away team will begin second half with the ball.

Sudden death overtime (first team to score wins).

Rough and dirty play will not be tolerated. If displayed, the player will have to sit immediately with the opportunity to return.

Coaches, players, & spectators MUST conduct themselves with the best example of sportsmanship at ALL times.         

There will be NO arguing with the officials (from coaches, players, or spectators). You will be asked to leave if this is an issue.

There are 3 key points we want to emphasize in these divisions.

-          Passing/sharing the basketball

-          Not traveling/Dribbling the ball

-          Shooting with certainty

Team Play:

Substitutions will only be allowed every 6 minutes in the first half.

Teams MUST play half court man to man defense.

NO full court pressure, zone, or double teaming at ALL. Each player must guard one player.

Kindergarten/1st grade - players can only steal the ball in the air.

        -Players may NOT steal off the dribble.

Mercy Rule: If a team is winning by 20 or more points then their score will not be added each basket thereafter.

Game Structure:

2nd- 3rd will play on 9ft rims and use 28.5 basketballs (official women’s size).

4th-5th will play on 10ft rims and use 29.5 basketballs (official men’s size)

Each team will get 3 minutes to warm up before the game starts.

Games will consist of two 16 minute halves (running clock). Clock will stop when subs occur.

1 minute halftime.

One 30 second timeout total per half.

Home team will start with the ball in the first half. If no jump balls, then away team will begin second half with the ball.

Sudden death overtime (first team to score wins).

Fouls/Free throws:

Players cannot foul out. 

Shooting 1 & 1 at 10 fouls.

On shooting fouls:

-player will get 1 point and shoot for the other (if shot is missed).

-player will get 2 points and shoot a free throw (if shot is made).

        -IF a team is up by 15+ points they may NOT steal off the dribble.
