The Young Lancers was established by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad with the vision for creating a competitive youth basketball program in the area. With the support of parents in the community, Athletic Director Nigel Cabral and Athletic Coordinator Steven Hernandez formed the first team of 5th grade boys for their inaugural season in the Spring 2013. In the Fall of 2013, they will expand the program to include 4th-7th grade boys teams and 4th-6th grade girls teams, and they WILL compete. Each team will consist of 8-10 players.
Mission Statement
To provide a highly-structured basketball program for 4th through 7th grade athletes to prepare them to compete at higher levels.
