Office of Public Advocacy / Alaska CASA
Alaska CASA is a network of six local programs throughout the state that recruit, train, and support community volunteers to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for foster youth. CASA volunteers work in partnership with guardians ad litem (GALs) to advance the best interests of each child with the goal of ensuring the best possible outcome. CASA volunteers generally serve on just one case at a time, given them the "luxury of focus" that paid professionals working in the overburdened child welfare system cannot achieve.
