o Aid counselors by helping to get equipment and supplies ready for activities.
o Help to secure supplies and equipment after activities.
o Aid children in their learning by providing a good example.
o Help counselors and children by helping to keep track of their stuff.
o Help children to get to activity areas and the bathroom.
o Contribute ideas to improve the program.
o Report any unsafe actions by children or other CITs to supervisor.
o Provide children with role models and help them grow in character.
o Assist in cleaning and disposing of trash
o Ability to accept supervision and guidance
o Good character, integrity, and adaptability
o Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self-control
o Set a good example for Club members and others, including cleanliness, punctuality, sharing duties during cleanup, and sportsmanship.
o Respect each Club member for their uniqueness - within each group help create a community of people, understanding and appreciating diversity, emphasizing communication and teamwork.
This program covers a curriculum that includes such topics as leadership, conflict resolution, child development and group dynamics that leads to the making of a successful Boys & Girls Club Counselor, and a better leader. All CIT’s applicants should be interested in, working with children, possess maturity, flexibility, a strong work ethic and the ability to have fun. CITs will be evaluated by the Club Staff at the end of their session. Successful completion of the program and positive evaluations could lead to the participant being invited back the following season to interview for a staff position (must be going into 10th grade to be considered.)
Because of the small number of spaces available and the highly competitive nature of this program, all potential applicants must complete a CIT Application in order to determine suitability for the program.
