PCH D-League Rules (K-2nd grade divisions)

  1. Kindergarten will play on 8ft rims and use 28.5 basketballs (official women’s size). 1st-2nd will play on 9ft rims and use 28.5 basketballs (official women’s size).
  2. Each team will get 4 minutes to warm up before the game starts.
  3. Games will consist of two 16 minute halves (running clock).
  4. There will be a 2 minute halftime.
  5. Three 30 second timeouts total per game (timeouts carry over into second half if not used).
  6. Home team will start with the ball in the first half. Away team will start with the ball in the second half.
  7. Each player MUST play a minimum of half the game (16 minutes).
  8. Substitutions will only be allowed every 4 minutes in each half.
  9. Teams MUST play half court man to man defense.
  10. There will be no full court pressure, zone, or trapping defense at ALL. Each player must guard one player.
  11. Mercy Rule: If a team is winning by 15 or more points there will be no fast breaks allowed against the losing team.
  12. Players can only steal the ball if it is in the air. No steals may be made while another player is dribbling.
  13. If both teams are tied at the end of regulation there will be a 1 minute overtime. If there are no baskets scored at the end of overtime, then both teams will continue to play until a team scores (first team to scores wins).
  14. Rough and dirty play will not be tolerated. If displayed, the player will have to sit immediately with the opportunity to return.
  15. Coaches, players, & spectators must conduct themselves with the best example of sportsmanship at ALL times.         
  16. It is the coach’s responsibility to help teach the rules of the game. There are 3 key points we want to emphasize in these divisions.

-          Passing/sharing the basketball

-          No traveling

-          No double dribbling
