K-2nd Rules
PCH D-League Rules (K-2nd
grade divisions)
- Kindergarten will play on 8ft rims and use 28.5 basketballs (official women’s size). 1st-2nd will play on 9ft rims and use 28.5 basketballs (official women’s size).
- Each team will get 4 minutes to warm up before the game starts.
- Games will consist of two 16 minute halves (running clock).
- There will be a 2 minute halftime.
- Three 30 second timeouts total per game (timeouts carry over into second half if not used).
- Home team will start with the ball in the first half. Away team will start with the ball in the second half.
- Each player MUST play a minimum of half the game (16 minutes).
- Substitutions will only be allowed every 4 minutes in each half.
- Teams MUST play half court man to man defense.
- There will be no full court pressure, zone, or trapping defense at ALL. Each player must guard one player.
- Mercy Rule: If a team is winning by 15 or more points there will be no fast breaks allowed against the losing team.
- Players can only steal the ball if it is in the air. No steals may be made while another player is dribbling.
- If both teams are tied at the end of regulation there will be a 1 minute overtime. If there are no baskets scored at the end of overtime, then both teams will continue to play until a team scores (first team to scores wins).
- Rough and dirty play will not be tolerated. If displayed, the player will have to sit immediately with the opportunity to return.
- Coaches, players, & spectators must conduct themselves with the best example of sportsmanship at ALL times.
- It is the coach’s responsibility to help teach the rules of the game. There are 3 key points we want to emphasize in these divisions.
