The Counselor-In-Training (CIT) Program focuses on helping participants discover their full potential as leaders. The program is designed specifically for those who want to start the process of becoming a camp counselor, which is an exciting, fun and challenging experience. Participants in the CIT program will attain valuable job-specific training that will give them a head start on a bright future in summer camp. CIT's assist counselors in providing a fun and safe camp environment for the campers. Key components of this program include standard first aid, behavior management techniques, supervision training, and basic activity design. There will be daily mentoring and feedback, as well as the opportunity to discuss experiences with peers.
There is NO CHARGE to the CIT participant, yet there are daily expectations and responsibilities. Each participant will be evaluated during each week he/she attends camp. A CIT will need to receive an invitation in order to return to camp each week.
If you are interested in becoming a Counselor-In-Training at Camp Chaparral, please attend an Orientation Session.
