What You Should Know About Gangs
Thursday, July 22, 2010
The young children and teens that require the advocacy of a CASA Volunteer are desperately in need of a stable home environment. Unfortunately, some of them turn to the lure of gangs, which offer them camaraderie and loyalty.
With gang activity becoming more prevalent in our community, learning more about them is critically important. Designed by the Newport News Gang Unit, this training will help volunteers identify early warning signs of gang involvement and answer questions such as, "What is a gang", "Who belongs to a gang", "Why do people join gangs", "How to identify gang members", and "How to get out of a gang".
