SPRING FOR A SPAY?

Thanks to you, we are slowly winning the battle against unwanted dog litters, but vigilance is required.

Unfortunately the numbers of unwanted kittens continues to be too large. Just one fertile male can cause many surprise litters of 5-7 kittens on average. Owners must spay their own female cats and help assure that area males are neutered as well.

Each year people unable to pay for fixing their cats bring 'surprise' litters to our doors. Some bring litters repeatedly! We rely on generous donors for contributions to help us maintain a fund to help neuter the pets of people unable pay for the service. As cute as they are, kittens spread like viruses whenever fertile cats are in the area.

Frankly, there are not enough homes for cats in our area, so adoption is difficult. We take cats into St. Louis County to find adopters without much success. So preventing unwanted litters spares momma cats the heartbreak of giving birth to unwanted babies. It is the best solution.
